SURFHERO.COM.AU

Surf Hero is a beach education website just for kids. Sonny, Dr Rip, Max and Sally are here to help kids have fun at the beach but also to make sure they are aware of the hidden dangers as well. Check out the fun activities about safety signs, rip currents, learning to surf and the role of Lifeguards and Lifesavers.

SUTHERLAND SHIRE COUNCIL

Sutherland Shire Council employs professional Lifeguards to patrol the beaches in Bate Bay year round. Council Lifeguards are highly trained in all facets of water safety and through council’s surf education programs, have been providing surf education and survival training for more than 20 years. Surf Hero is a new initiative to increase the reach of our surf safety messages.

Council Lifeguards wear a blue and white uniform with LIFEGUARD printed in red lettering.

SURF LIFESAVING CLUBS

Volunteer members of the Surf Life Saving Association work in conjunction with council lifeguards to patrol beaches on weekends and public holidays during the summer months. Lifesavers wear a distinctive red and yellow uniform and can provide expert assistance and help. The Bate Bay beaches in Sutherland Shire are proudly supported by four surf life saving clubs that run a range of community-based activities including nippers, surf patrols, sporting events, training and accreditation activities. Information relating to each club’s programs and membership should be directed to the club administration.
