Sutherland Shire Council is required to comply with the information protection principles in the Privacy and Personal Information Act 1998 (PPIP Act). These principles regulate the collection, storage, use and disclosure of personal information held by government agencies.
A detailed Privacy Management Plan has been developed by Council to outline the Council’s commitment to privacy issues.
Your personal information
Generally, any personal information you provide to Council will only be used and/or disclosed for the Council’s purposes, or a directly related purpose, unless you consent to another use or disclosure, in emergencies or as otherwise required or authorised by law.
Like many websites, we use “cookie” technology to collect additional website usage data and to improve our Services. A cookie is a small data file that is transferred to your computer’s hard disk. Council may use cookies to better understand how you interact with our Services, to monitor aggregate usage by our users and web traffic routing on our Services, and to improve our Services. Under the PPIP Act, you have rights to access any personal information held by the Council, without excessive delay or expense. You also have a right to have your personal information corrected, in certain circumstances (eg. if it is inaccurate). Should you wish to access or correct your personal information, please make a written request to the Council by completing one of the following forms, or by simply writing to Council.
